Zipolite - A Care Free Day

This full-day tour visits Zipolite, a beach town on Oaxaca's Pacific coast about 75 minutes from Huatulco, best known as home to Playa Zipolite — Mexico's first and only legal nude beach since 2016. Being nude isn't required, and most visitors keep their swimwear on; the beach's reputation is simply part of Zipolite's laid-back, unpretentious character.

The day is built around beach time: swimming in the ocean, sunbathing, and browsing the shops in town. At midday, the tour includes a three-course lunch with cold drinks at the hotel credited with putting Zipolite on the map. From there, the group moves on to a mezcal tasting — Oaxaca's signature spirit — before winding down with a drink of your choice on a swing seat under a beach hut, sand underfoot and the ocean in view.

Round-trip travel between your hotel and Zipolite takes roughly three hours in total, out of a full day of about eight hours, so expect a meaningful chunk of the day in transit in exchange for a relaxed, unhurried few hours once you arrive.

This is a leisure-focused day for travelers who want beach time, a proper sit-down lunch, and a mezcal tasting rather than an activity-packed itinerary — and it's accessible: both the venue and transportation are wheelchair accessible, infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, and service animals are allowed. It's not recommended for pregnant travelers.
