Fauno Bar — The Most Emblematic Salsa Night in Tulum

The first place we recommend is Fauno Bar, located in Tulum Pueblo on the main strip of the town centre. It is an outdoor bar and restaurant full of tropical plants and trees, with creative mixology cocktails and a warm, intimate atmosphere. Fauno Bar hosts salsa nights every Tuesday and Sunday, with a live Latin music band starting at 8 PM. Free salsa lessons are offered at the start of the evening, making it the most welcoming spot in town for beginners and experienced dancers alike. In our view, this is the most emblematic salsa venue in Tulum.

Congo Bar — The Wednesday Salsa Institution

Another spot we strongly recommend is Congo Bar, also situated in Tulum Pueblo not far from Fauno Bar. This venue has built a legendary reputation for its Wednesday salsa parties, where a live band plays salsa, bachata, and reggaeton all night long. Congo Bar is so popular on Wednesdays — with both locals and visitors from the Zona Hotelera — that it fills up quickly. We advise arriving before 10 PM, as the place is typically packed by 11 PM or midnight.

El Árbol — Salsa Under the Trees on Wednesdays

Another wonderful Wednesday option is El Árbol, located in the La Veleta neighbourhood of Tulum. You will recognise this open-air food market by the enormous tree that grows right in the middle of the space. The menu covers a variety of international cuisines — Argentinian, Asian, Italian, and more — making it a great spot for dinner before the dancing begins. Every Wednesday at 8 PM, El Árbol hosts a live Latin music group and free outdoor salsa lessons. It is a more relaxed, neighbourhood atmosphere compared to the busier spots in the town centre.

Pez Agave — A Candlelit Salsa Thursday

If you prefer a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere, Pez Agave in Tulum Pueblo is the option for you. This restaurant has a lovely outdoor terrace lit by candles, where you can practice your salsa steps every Thursday starting at 8 PM. It is also renowned for its excellent seafood and mezcal selection, so you can enjoy a delicious dinner while you warm up for the dance floor. The combination of great food, quality drinks, and free salsa lessons makes Pez Agave one of our favourite mid-week finds in Tulum.

Xcaanda — Friday Night Salsa on the Beach Road

Our last recommendation is Xcaanda, a very popular bar located along the Zona Hotelera beach road, close to Tulum Beach. They offer free salsa lessons every Friday at 7 PM, giving you time to warm up before the full evening crowd arrives. Xcaanda regularly runs happy hours with 2-for-1 cocktails and ladies nights, making it a fantastic way to kick off your Friday in Tulum.
