Gran Cenote is the crown jewel of Tulum's cenote scene — a chamber of crystal-clear freshwater connected to a cave system extending for kilometers underground. Visibility often reaches 20 meters or more.
The Experience
Two main areas: an open cavern with a swimming hole open to the sky, and a cave section where stalactites and stalagmites frame the impossibly clear water. Freshwater turtles, tropical fish, and small bat colonies inhabit the site.
Cave Diving
Connected to Sistema Sac Actún, one of the world's longest underwater cave systems. Certified cave divers can arrange guided dives into the passages where light creates surreal effects through the clear water.
