Discover Bioluminescence in Kayak with a Guide

This is a 180-minute night outing on Holbox to see bioluminescence from a double kayak, with a guide who explains how the effect works in the sea. It combines paddling with a natural phenomenon, so it suits people who want to be on the water and not just on the shore.

Pick-up is included from your hotel or the place where you are staying. Share the name or address and, if applicable, your room number, so the operator can plan it. After the pick-up you are taken to the starting point on the beach, where the guide is waiting to lead the activity.

Once on the water, you paddle in the double kayaks while the guide points out what is happening around you. If you wish, you can get into the water to see the glow more closely, and you can also walk in the swimming area and on the sandbanks.

The operator adds that, with luck, you may see the occasional shooting star. As with any natural phenomenon, what you see depends on the night, so treat that as a possibility, not a promise.

The activity requires at least a moderate level of physical fitness. It is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, for pregnant travelers, or for travelers with poor cardiovascular health. Kayaks and life vests are included, along with the pick-up and drop-off.
