Eco Classic Tour Holbox

The Eco Classic Tour is a three-hour boat ride that visits three points around Holbox: the bird island, the Yalahau Cenote and Isla de la Pasión. It is a straightforward introduction to the natural surroundings of the island, with time for watching birds, swimming and walking on the sand bars.

Pick-up takes place every day 30 minutes before the tour starts. If you choose the 8:30 am tour, you are collected at your hotel in Holbox at 8:00 am and taken to the pier. The first stop is the bird island, a reserve where you can watch from a tower the many species that nest there. Among them are gray pelicans, egrets and cormorants, along with countless other seabirds.

After the birds, the boat takes you to the Yalahau Cenote, where you can swim at your own pace in clear, fresh water. It is a refreshing break in the middle of the route, and the entrance fee to the cenote is included.

The last stop is Isla de la Pasión, a small and beautiful island where you can walk on the sand bars and take pictures from the watch tower. Some descriptions of the route also mention Punta Mosquito, a beach with a large sand bar that you can walk on. After Isla de la Pasión, the boat returns to Holbox.

The tour asks for a high level of physical fitness and is not recommended for pregnant travelers or travelers with spinal injuries. Infants are required to sit on an adult's lap, children must be accompanied by an adult, and the child rate applies only when sharing with 2 paying adults.
