Holbox: 3 Island Private Boat Tour

This private boat tour explores the waters around Isla Holbox in a short, relaxed outing with three stops: a sandbank landscape at Punta Mosquito, the colorful Passion Island, and a swim in the Yalahau spring. Each stop is listed at around 20 minutes, so it works as a compact introduction to the island’s surroundings.

The first stop is Punta Mosquito, one of the most beautiful beaches of Holbox, where clear water meets a white sand bank. The local bird population gathers on a large sandbank that is visible most of the year, and the landscape that forms around the point is the reason to stop here. Depending on weather conditions, the operator may swap this stop for Isla Pájaros.

Next comes Yalahau, a cenote, or fresh water sinkhole. According to the legend, old pirates and fishermen used it as a source of fresh water. Today you can swim in its clear water, which the operator describes as refreshing for every visitor who takes a dip.

The last stop is Passion Island, home to many birds. Here you can watch different species as they feed and breed, and during most of the year pink flamingos can be seen in the shallow, colorful waters. Binoculars are provided, which helps for spotting birds from the boat.

The tour suits all fitness levels, though it is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers, or those with poor cardiovascular health. Your guide speaks English or Spanish, and a French-speaking guide is available on request.

Boat transportation, water, binoculars, the Yalahau entrance and the guide are included, and a cooler with ice can be provided if you ask. Food and gratuities are not included, so bring what you plan to eat and something for tipping the crew.
