Holbox - Fishing & Snorkeling in Cabo Catoche with drinks & snack

This is a five-hour outing that combines fishing and snorkeling in Cabo Catoche, in the Caribbean waters off Holbox. You learn to fish the Mexican way, explore the underwater world and finish with a fresh ceviche. Pick-up, drinks, snacks and a guide in English and Spanish are included.

The tour starts with a boat ride of about 45 minutes to Cabo Catoche. When you arrive, it is time to fish and snorkel. First you receive all the tools you need to fish the Mexican way, and you learn about the different species and find out what you catch.

Then comes the snorkeling. In the water you can see carey turtles, octopuses, lobsters, harmless cat sharks and, certainly, plenty of corals. Cabo Catoche is a good place for both activities because of its wide variety of marine life, but keep in mind that snorkeling conditions are not always the best, since they depend on the weather.

After the fishing and snorkeling, the captain prepares a Mexican ceviche from the fish you have just caught, served with totopos and guacamole. These first stops take about 240 minutes in total.

The last stop, around 60 minutes, is the Santa Paula River, where Holbox Island is separated from the mainland. You have time to walk and take pictures.

The tour is listed as suitable for all physical fitness levels, but it is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health. The price includes water and sodas, all the fishing gear, an English and Spanish guide, pick-up, and snacks and lunch in the form of ceviche. Tips and drop-off are not included.
