Holbox Mangrove Kayaking Tour

This guided kayak tour goes through the mangroves of Holbox, a natural system where wildlife is the main attraction. It lasts 180 minutes and is led by a guide who is an expert in birds and wildlife.

The mangrove system is home to more than 200 types of local and migratory birds, as well as crocodiles and flamingos, among other animals. The operator highlights the American flamingo, the osprey, herons and plovers as birds you may see. Binoculars are provided, one per couple, so it is worth sharing them.

The tour is described as a way to get into close contact with nature: you spend the time paddling and looking, with the guide explaining what lives in the mangroves. Fruit and snacks and soft drinks are part of the outing.

It is meant for people who enjoy quiet, nature-focused activities. Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness, and it is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers, or those with poor cardiovascular health.

The kayak and all the equipment, a round-trip taxi to the starting point, soft drinks, fruit and snacks, the guide, and medical expenses are included. Breakfast is not, so eat before you go.

Pick-up is 20 minutes before the activity, and the tour ends at the center of Holbox.
