Kayaking Tour Through the Mangroves in Isla Holbox

This kayak tour takes you through the winding mangroves of Isla Holbox in a double kayak, with a professional guide. The mangroves are home to a wide variety of coastal birds, and you are also likely to see crocodiles. The whole outing lasts about 180 minutes.

The day starts with a hotel pickup, followed by the trip to the kayak area at Punta Mosquitos. On arrival you get ready with all the necessary equipment and receive a brief introduction before setting off.

Then you get your double kayak and begin paddling through the mangroves. Along the way you may spot crocodiles basking on the banks of the channels and, depending on the season, you might also catch a glimpse of flamingos. The water in the mangroves is calm and relaxing, and you can hear the birds singing. Your guide shares information about the flora and fauna you see.

The tour follows the same route in and out, entering and returning through the main channel. Once you leave the mangrove canal, there is time to stretch your legs, relax and drink some water before the return to the starting point.

Because you paddle a double kayak, it works well for couples, friends or a parent with an older child. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and the minimum age is 6 years. You should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness, and the tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries.
