Relaxing private boat tour to Cabo Catoche with fishing

Cabo Catoche is the point where the Caribbean Sea meets the Gulf of Mexico, and this private boat tour from Holbox brings together fishing, snorkeling and a ceviche lunch on the beach. The full outing lasts about 360 minutes, so plan on most of the day.

The point lies about 43 kilometers east of Holbox. The area is known for its pristine beaches and for lush marine life, which is why it works well for both fishing and snorkeling. Keep in mind that weather conditions can affect the tour.

On the way you may see dolphins in the outer part of Cabo Catoche. North of the point, the group fishes, and the catch becomes the main ingredient of the ceviche you eat later.

Snorkeling takes place in the Cuevones area, where the water is only about 2 feet deep. You can see all kinds of fish and soft corals, and under the stones you may find harmless nurse sharks in the background. Octopus and lobsters are sometimes seen too. If the water is not calm, visibility may not be at its best.

After snorkeling, the boat goes ashore at a virgin beach, where you can walk around the island and take photos. The ceviche is then prepared and eaten right there on the sand. If the tide is high, the return to Holbox goes through a mangrove channel that leads to the other side of the island.
