Coffee Plantation Experience
The experience
The Coffee Plantation Experience is a day trip from Huatulco up into the Sierra Madre to visit a working coffee plantation and taste organic coffee. The listing is proud of the product, saying the local coffee competes with some of the best in the world.
Pick-up is at 9:00 am at your hotel. The first stop is Santa María Huatulco, where you see the municipality and visit its church. From there you drive about 45 minutes up into the Sierra Madre to Pluma Hidalgo, at 1,500 meters above sea level.
In Pluma Hidalgo you visit a real working coffee plantation and sample organic coffee. The visit also takes you to what the listing calls the best viewpoint in the Sierra Madre. The trip returns to Huatulco around 3:00 pm.
Bring extra money, since you may want to buy coffee or souvenirs. Bottled water is included, but lunch, snacks and carbonated beverages are not. The tour requires travelers to have at least a moderate level of physical fitness. Strollers and service animals are allowed.
There are two practical conditions: be ready ten minutes before pick-up, and note that the tour needs a minimum of four people, or it can be booked as a private tour. Confirm the group arrangement when you book.
