Tour to Copalitilla Magical Waterfalls from Huatulco with admission included

This full-day excursion leaves from the Bahías de Huatulco area and heads up into the mountains of the sierra to the Copalitilla Magical Waterfalls. The ride takes roughly an hour and a half in an air-conditioned vehicle, and the destination is a community set inside the jungle, where pools of clear water and several waterfalls make a natural place for swimming and photos. Entrance to the waterfalls is already included in the price.

Once you reach the community, the walk continues on foot through the jungle until you arrive at the falls and their pools. The itinerary leaves about two hours at the site, enough time to swim, take pictures and simply sit and look at the surroundings without a fixed schedule of stops.

Along the way the tour makes a coffee stop. There is a short explanation about coffee, and you learn about the healing properties of medicinal plants and about products the community makes from them. The tour includes a coffee and mezcal tasting, so this is a good chance to try both local drinks.

After the waterfalls, the group has about an hour for a traditional regional meal: chicken in mole with pot beans and handmade tortillas prepared by community cooks. The meal is not included in the tour price, so plan to pay for it separately. The whole outing is listed at about eight hours.

The tour suits travelers with at least a moderate level of fitness, since it involves a walk through the jungle. It is not recommended for people with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or pregnancy. Infants must sit on an adult's lap.

Bring swimwear, a towel, comfortable shoes and some cash. Food and drinks, tips and purchases are not included, and neither is a community support contribution of approximately 10 pesos. Pick-up times depend on where you stay and are confirmed a few days in advance. The tour collects from hotels, houses, villas and apartments in the Huatulco Bays area; if you are outside it, a meeting point is assigned.
