Surf Lessons at Cerritos

Cerritos Beach is one of the most consistent surf spots in Baja California Sur, taking Pacific swells that produce rideable waves through much of the year. Its wide sandy beach and varied wave conditions make it suitable for surfers of different levels. This experience is a surf lesson at Cerritos with transportation and lunch included, and it is listed as lasting about 330 minutes in total, of which roughly two hours are the lesson itself.

The lesson is taught by instructors who adapt the coaching to your skill level and to ocean conditions, at a ratio of one instructor for three students. Beyond learning to stand on a board, surfing teaches you to read wave patterns, understand how the ocean moves and gain confidence in the water. The experience is described as suitable for beginner, intermediate and advanced surfers, though it requires basic comfort in the water and moderate physical activity.

Equipment is covered: surfboard, rashguard, beach chairs, an umbrella setup and all necessary surf gear. If you want a specific board size, a fiberglass board or a wetsuit, ask at least 24 hours in advance; wetsuits are available on request in winter in XL, L, M and S. Lunch is part of the package, and you get complimentary round-trip transportation from selected areas in an air-conditioned vehicle. The ride from the Cabo San Lucas area takes about one hour.

Plan around the season: surf lessons operate approximately from November 15 through March 15, depending on swell. Weather and sea conditions decide whether the activity goes ahead; if it is cancelled for unsafe conditions, you are offered an alternative date or a full refund. The minimum age is 6. There are no lockers, but belongings can usually stay in the transport vehicle during the lesson.

This is not recommended for travellers with back problems, pregnancy or serious heart conditions, and participants under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not allowed. Observers or companions need an advance reservation and pay an additional fee for transportation and lunch; the observer option does not include a board or a lesson. Medical refund requests need an official same-day doctor’s certificate and prior notice before the start time.

For the meeting point, complimentary transport is available from hotels in Cabo San Lucas and the Tourist Corridor. Hotels outside the main area, such as Hard Rock, Nobu, Rancho San Lucas, Diamante or Four Seasons, are not covered and meet at the Plaza Gali OXXO in Cabo San Lucas, as do cruise guests.
