Soumaya Museum Tour ‐ Small Groups

This is a guided tour of the Soumaya Museum in small groups, lasting about 200 minutes, with around 180 of them spent on the collection. The operator describes it as a different way of seeing the museum, explaining the context and analysis of each work as well as the human side of the artist, and telling the history of art in a way you may not have heard before.

The listing says the collection has close to 70,000 pieces, and highlights the most important collection of work by Auguste Rodin outside France. The guide concentrates on the most representative works from the 14th to the 21st century and on the artistic movements that have appeared across history, including artists who changed it, such as Michelangelo.

Among the European names listed are the Impressionists Monet, Renoir and Degas, and Old Masters such as El Greco, Tintoretto, Brueghel, Cranach, Zurbarán and Murillo. The museum also holds New Spanish Old Masters, Correa, Villalpando and Cabrera, and, according to the listing, the only works by Vincent van Gogh in Mexico.

On the Mexican side, the collection includes work by José María Velasco, Agustín Arrieta, Dr. Atl, Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco and David Alfaro Siqueiros, among others. The guide ties these works into the story rather than just naming them.

The tour suits art lovers and curious travellers who want context and stories rather than a quick walk-through. The listing says it is suitable for all physical fitness levels and wheelchair accessible, with all areas and surfaces accessible, and that service animals are allowed. Infants must sit on an adult's lap.

Practical notes: a certified guide is included, while tips and lunch are not. Public transport is available nearby, and there are wheelchair-accessible transportation options. The listing gives no meeting point, so ask the operator for the details after booking.
