Buggy & Cenote tour in Playa del Carmen by One Jungle Adventures

This buggy tour from One Jungle Adventures is based in Playa del Carmen and centres on more than two hours of off-road driving along jungle trails in the Riviera Maya. Along the way it adds a swim in an underground cenote and a stop in a Mayan community for something to eat.

The day begins with round-trip transportation from selected hotels, depending on the option you booked, to the adventure base in Playa del Carmen. Before heading out, the guides give a full safety briefing and driving instructions, and you receive safety equipment, including protective goggles and a bandana, as well as water.

Then you take the wheel of an off-road buggy and drive for more than two hours through winding jungle trails, muddy paths (seasonal) and natural scenery, away from the crowds. The fleet includes 2-seat buggies for couples or friends and 6-seat family buggies for larger groups travelling together.

A short walk through the jungle brings you to an underground cenote, where there is time to swim in clear fresh water. The tour ends with a visit to a Mayan community, where empanadas or quesadillas are made on the spot and served with fruit juice, before you are taken back to your hotel or the designated drop-off location.

Check the group rules before booking. The listing is not recommended for pregnant travelers, travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health, though it is described as suitable for all fitness levels. Infants must sit on an adult's lap, and children cannot ride in the 2-seat buggies. Singles are not allowed in a 2-seat buggy, and the 6-seat buggy is used for a group of 3 and for families with children or adults without a driving licence. A minimum of 6 people is required to operate the buggy tour; if there are fewer, you will be offered another date.

Bring a swimsuit and a towel. Lunch, gratuities and the photography service are not included. Hotel pickup covers selected hotels only, and the exact pickup time is sent the day before by Viator message and/or SMS. Depending on your hotel and the other guests, pickup may be up to two hours before departure, and hotels not on the list are picked up at Coco Bongo Playa del Carmen, on 10th Avenue at 12th Street.
