From Playa del Carmen ATV Adventure with Ziplines, Cenote
The experience
This four-hour excursion leaves Playa del Carmen for Extreme Adventure Eco Park, set in the Mayan jungle along the Ruta de los Cenotes, and strings together three activities: an ATV ride, a zipline circuit and a swim in a cenote. Groups are small, with 14 people per group, and the package includes bilingual guides, transport and safety standards. The itinerary lists a duration of 240 minutes.
The adventure starts at the wheel of a 4x4 ATV, driving through jungle terrain. Next comes an interactive zipline course through the tree canopy; the inclusions describe a 3-zipline circuit and one interactive bridge. The finale is a 100% natural Mayan cenote, described as a sacred swimming hole revered by the Mayans, where you can simply take a plunge or zipline directly into the water, with a jumping platform available.
Your ticket also covers a regional snack along with the ATV ride, ATV insurance and the conservation fee, a tequila tasting at Hacienda Reserva Palacios, entrance to the eco park and transfer from most hotels in Playa del Carmen. Photos are available for purchase, while gratuities and a locker are not included.
The tour is aimed at active travelers who like a mix of speed, height and water, although it is listed as suitable for all fitness levels. Age and size rules matter here. Driving an ATV alone requires being 18 or older, and 16 or older if accompanied by an adult. The minimum age to take part is 4, with a minimum height of 1 metre (3.28 ft), and children aged 4 to 15 can ride on the back seat with an adult. The ziplines allow a maximum weight of 120 kg (265 lb) and a maximum waist size of 1.24 m (49 in). It is not recommended for pregnant travelers, travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health.
For safety, cameras and cell phones are not permitted during the adventure activities, so plan to enjoy the experience without them. The tour departs from most hotels in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya. If your hotel is outside the pickup zone, a central meeting point will be given when the booking is reconfirmed, and if your hotel is not listed you can leave a note with its name so a pickup time can be arranged.
