ATV, Zipline and Horse Back Riding Experience

This full-day adventure from Puerto Vallarta strings together three activities in the foothills of the Sierra Madre: horseback riding, an ATV ride and a zip line circuit. The total experience lasts about 390 minutes, and it is designed for travelers who want to spend the day outdoors and get a bit muddy.

The day starts on horseback. You ride your own horse along the river into the tropical rainforest of the Sierra Madre and toward the village of Las Palmas.

Next you gear up for an ATV ride along off-the-beaten paths, crossing rivers and muddy trails and moving through jungle terrain. Along the way there is a stop at a waterfall, where you can swim in the cascades and natural pools. The operator notes that the amount of water in the waterfalls and pools varies with the season, less in the dry season and more in the rainy season, and that the route can change depending on conditions.

After that you move through the trees and over rivers on a zip line circuit of 7 lines, seeing the landscape from above. To finish, a traditional Mexican lunch is served: fajitas or grilled chicken with handmade tortillas, beans and rice, plus guacamole and salsa that you prepare yourself. Then you return to Puerto Vallarta.

The tour is listed as suitable for all physical fitness levels, but for safety there are restrictions. It is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health, and pregnant women, people with back, neck, heart or balance conditions, or dizziness are restricted.
