Combo Horse Riding and ATV Experience

This combo tour takes you into the Sierra Madre behind Puerto Vallarta for a day that mixes horseback riding, an ATV ride, a waterfall swim and a Mexican lunch. It lasts about six hours and is an active outing, with a good deal of time spent on jungle trails and river crossings.

The day starts on horseback along jungle trails beside the river, heading deep into the Sierra Madre. The route passes hidden paths and the village of Las Palmas, away from the busier tourist areas. From there you hike through tropical vegetation to a waterfall, crossing remote rivers, hanging bridges and natural stairways along the way. At the waterfall you can swim in the clear pools.

The ATV portion takes you over rugged jungle terrain, splashing across rivers. Entrance to Rancho Capomo is included. Afterwards comes a homemade Mexican lunch with drinks: the operator mentions fajitas or grilled chicken, guacamole you make yourself, handmade tortillas, beans and rice.

Transportation is air-conditioned, with pickup from two meeting points provided by the operator. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and use biodegradable sunscreen and insect repellent. Water levels in the waterfalls and pools change with the season, lower in the dry season and higher in the rainy season, and the route may change depending on conditions. Tips and other expenses are not included. The tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers or those with poor cardiovascular health, though it is suitable for all fitness levels.
