Cuale River ATV Jungle Adventure

This ATV ride follows the Cuale River area of Puerto Vallarta up into the mountains. The listed duration is about 3.5 hours, and the description centers on the climb and the stop that comes at the end.

You ride up the mountain until you reach the Sierra outlook point, which offers views of the mountains from all angles. If you are lucky, you may see a wild macaw fly past.

The final stop is at what the operator calls the most famous local restaurant in the village. There you can have an authentic Mexican lunch or a refreshment, both available for purchase, since food and drinks are not included in the price.

The ride is meant for people with at least a moderate level of physical fitness. Drivers must have a valid driver's license and the minimum age is 6. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and the maximum combined weight is 400 lbs (180 kg). The operator says pregnant travelers and people with heart problems cannot take part, and it is also not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries.

To prepare, bring closed-toed shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, Mexican pesos for souvenirs, snacks and gratuities for the guide. Arrive 15 minutes early for check-in: the tour leaves promptly on time, and latecomers are left behind. The fuel, ATV, helmet, goggles and bandanas are included. If you choose the driver-only option, the price is per ATV, and you are assigned as many ATVs as travelers selected; the driver and passenger option shares one ATV between 2 people, so you can only select an even number of travelers.
