Marietas Sail, Snorkel and Beach

This sailing trip heads to the Marietas Islands National Park, an ecological refuge north of Puerto Vallarta known for its reefs, clear water, and dramatic landscape of cliffs, coves, caves, and rock formations.

Once there, experienced guides lead snorkeling sessions where you can spot an unusually wide range of marine life, tropical fish, octopus, spotted rays, seahorses, and turtles, in water that's home to reef life alongside more than 100 species of birds that nest on the islands. If you'd rather not get in the water, there's also the option to simply relax with a drink and take in the scenery, or focus on photographing the cliffs and rock formations.

The day includes time on one of the area's secluded beaches before the boat catches the afternoon breeze back to port.

Between December 8 and March 15, there's also a chance of spotting whales during the sail, since migrating humpbacks pass through this stretch of coast during those months.

A continental breakfast and a deli-style lunch are served on board, along with a domestic open bar, though alcoholic drinks are only poured after the water activities are finished. Snorkeling gear, life vests, described as well sanitized, and paddleboards are included for use during the stop.

Given the swimming and snorkeling involved, the trip isn't recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, cardiovascular conditions, or for pregnant travelers, though it's otherwise rated suitable for all physical fitness levels; infants are required to sit on an adult's lap.

Port tax, transportation to and from the marina, and the Marietas Islands conservation fee are not included, nor is access to Love Beach, which is controlled by the marine park and only available as an optional extra. New snorkeling tubes can be purchased on board if needed.
