Private Tour: ATV SIERRA MADRE rivers with Tequila Tasting

This private ATV tour heads into the Sierra Madre on dirt roads that climb and drop through the mountains. The operator says it works for all levels of rider, and because it is private, you decide how much time to spend at each place, whether you want to ride more or relax. The scheduled time is 120 minutes.

You meet at the operator's shop 15 minutes before departure. After signing the waivers, the guide explains where you are going and the stops along the way, and how much control you have over how long you stay at each one. You are given helmets, bandanas and goggles, and the guide explains the hand signals used during the ride and how to operate the ATVs before you set off.

On the ride you pass small villages, described as the real Mexico away from the tourist areas, and enjoy the nature and wildlife of the Sierra Madre. The route includes river crossings and the chance to jump into a waterfall, so bring a swimsuit if you want to. The tour ends with a tequila tasting.

This is a good fit for small groups or families who want to set their own pace. The minimum age is 16 with a driver's permit, and passengers must be at least 6. Each booking requires a minimum of 2 ATVs, single or double riders. A moderate level of fitness is expected. It is not recommended for pregnant travelers or for those with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health.

The price includes goggles, a helmet and the ATV, a private guide, face masks and fuel surcharges. Food and drinks, gratuities, hotel pickup and drop-off, and videos and pictures are not included. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, and bug spray is a good idea. The tour operates in all weather, so dress appropriately. The operator says that taking an Uber to its shop is cheaper, faster and easier than a pickup.

Two more notes. Cruise ship passengers must give the ship name, docking time, disembarkation time and re-boarding time when booking.
