Single Off-Road ATV Adventure in La Sierra Madre

This is a single-rider ATV ride through the Sierra Madre above Puerto Vallarta, lasting about 210 minutes. The route combines jungle trails, small Mexican villages and local neighborhoods with wide mountain views that open up as you climb.

You ride roughly 15 miles (24 km) on the ATV, with English-speaking guides and all the safety equipment provided. On the way up you pass through quaint villages before the terrain turns rugged and the vistas widen over the mountains.

The ride ends its outbound leg at Moro Paraiso, a restaurant on the banks of the Rio Cuale that the operator says is a local favorite for its remote location and authentic Mexican food. You can have lunch here, though food and drink are not included in the price. A ride back to the base finishes the adventure, and the package also includes a tequila tasting.

It is aimed at people who want to see the countryside and get a taste of local culture from a vehicle rather than a car. Expect an active outing, and note that the tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health, or for pregnant travelers, although it is suitable for all fitness levels.

Age and paperwork rules matter here. All drivers must have a driver's license, the minimum age for passengers on the ATV is 7, and the minimum age to drive is 16 with a driver's permit. A credit or debit card is required as a guarantee. Tips are not included.
