Yelapa Beach and Majahuitas Beach Tour with Snorkeling and BBQ in Playa

Yelapa Beach and Majahuitas Beach Tour with Snorkeling and BBQ in Playa

This full-day boat tour explores the southern part of Banderas Bay, with two stops: the fishing village of Yelapa and the beach of Majahuitas. The outing lasts about 420 minutes and combines culture, swimming and water activities with a barbecue lunch, so it suits anyone who wants both adventure and rest in a tropical setting.

The day starts with a quiet scenic boat ride along the bay to Yelapa. There is about 180 minutes for a guided tour of the village, where you walk its cobblestone streets and take in views that mix the beach, the Sierra Madre mountains and the colorful murals that decorate paths and stairs. You also visit the Yelapa waterfall. The operator notes that from July to December the rainy season brings the waterfall to life, making it a good place to cool off, but that swimming there can be dangerous during or after heavy rains.

The second part of the tour, about 240 minutes, is spent at Majahuitas, a beach known for its golden sand and emerald water and decorated in a relaxed hippie-chic style. Here you can snorkel to see the marine life, or paddle the calm water near the shore in a kayak or on a paddleboard; the tour also lists inflatable bananas among the equipment. Lunch is a barbecue under the palm trees, with dishes such as ribs, grilled chicken, fresh ceviche, salads and traditional local desserts, served with beer and flavored water.

Bring swimwear and a towel, comfortable shoes for Yelapa's streets, biodegradable sunscreen, and a light sweater in winter. Cash is also useful for dock fees, photos, souvenirs and anything you want to buy at the Majahuitas beach club. Life jackets are required for all water activities, and drones are prohibited to protect the flight path of endemic birds.

Two payments are separate from the price: a port tax of 35 MXN per person and an access fee to the beach club of 20 USD per adult and 10 USD per child, both mandatory and charged at check-in. Plan to reach the check-in office at least 45 minutes before departure. Infants must sit on an adult's lap, and the tour is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health, though it is suitable for all fitness levels.
