From Sayulita: Surf Trip to La Lancha Beach -all ages & levels

This half-day trip leaves from Sayulita for La Lancha, a white sand beach the operator describes as stunning and uncrowded. The activity lasts about 240 minutes, and the drive out through jungle scenery is part of the experience, made in open-air pick-up trucks.

You then spend the afternoon on the beach, surfing or simply relaxing. The trip is aimed at groups of friends, families, couples and solo travelers, and the operator highlights the chance to meet like-minded people.

There are two ways to do it. With individual surfing, beginners and experienced surfers get free surf time to practice or catch waves on their own. With a surf lesson, beginners and intermediate surfers get guidance and tips from one of the local instructors.

The departure is daily at 2 PM, and you should arrive 10 to 15 minutes early so everyone can get on the road on time. The minimum age is 5, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, who does not need to join the lesson in the water but must stay nearby. Basic swimming skills are required, and you should be able to carry a surfboard, about a 10-minute walk.

Transport to the surf break, a surfboard and a leash are included. Snacks, lunch, bottled water and gratuities are not, and there are no restrooms on board. A moderate level of fitness is expected, and the trip is not recommended for travelers in bad overall health.
