Sayulita to Camino al Buddha : 12 km Biocultural Hiking Experience

This is a 12 km hike that links Sayulita with the Camino al Buddha, and it lasts about 300 minutes. It is described as a biocultural experience because it combines different sides of the coast in a single route: quiet beaches, jungle trails and the local life of San Pancho.

The route starts with beaches and views of the Pacific Ocean, then moves onto jungle trails rich in vegetation and wildlife. Along the way there is a pause at Mal Paso Beach, a moment to breathe before the trail continues.

From there the route reaches San Pancho, where you can explore a local market and see the town’s everyday life. The hike ends at the Buddha, surrounded by nature. The idea is less about reaching a single destination than about enjoying each stretch, which offers a different way of connecting with the landscape.

The hike suits people who want a mix of adventure, nature, local life and calmer moments, and who are comfortable walking for several hours. You should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness. It is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health, or for pregnant travelers. Infants must sit on an adult’s lap.
