SINGLETRACK MOUNTAIN BIKE - Guided through the jungle

This guided singletrack mountain bike ride explores the jungle trails around Sayulita. Guests start at a local bike rental and repair shop in downtown Sayulita and ride full-suspension bikes through green jungle, crossing streams and following tight, fast singletrack. Note that the MTB tours do not run from July 1 to October 31.

There is a good cause behind it: all profits from this experience go toward building and maintaining the local mountain bike trails, so your ride helps keep them open.

The route depends on your level. The operator has two trail systems: the Malpaso Singletracks tour for intermediate and advanced riders, and the Punta Sayulita tour for beginners, and both can be adjusted to your ability. Beginners can take a flatter ride toward the beach, while advanced riders can climb to the top of the mountains for a big view and flowing singletrack descents.

Along the way the guide stops to take in the plants and animals around you or to try a short technical section. One stop the tour is known for is Playa de Los Muertos, a smaller, more private beach with calm water for floating, swimming and snorkeling, reached by foot, bike or paddleboard. Depending on the tide, there is also a small cliff jump.

Most rides take about two hours, though there is enough riding here to keep an advanced rider going for around two and a half hours non-stop. The tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or pregnancy, and you should have at least a moderate level of fitness.

The bike, helmet, gloves, bottled water and a guide are included. Bring your own biking shorts, and consider a hydration pack and biking shoes, which are optional. If you use clipless pedals from a brand other than Shimano, plan for that as well. Public transportation is available nearby.
