2-hour Temazcal experience in the Mayan world

This experience offers a temazcal ceremony rooted in the spirituality of the Mayan world. It lasts about 120 minutes and takes place in a round hut that does not exceed one and a half meters in height and has a small opening that serves as the door.

Inside, a bonfire heats volcanic stones. A cold infusion of herbs and medicinal ingredients is poured over them by candlelight, and the boiling of fresh water on the burning stones creates steam. As the ceremony advances the heat rises until it reaches its maximum point, 40 degrees.

The operator presents the temazcal as more than a simple steam bath: an inner journey to reconnect with yourself. The package includes energy cleansing, the temazcal bath and meditation. The operator also says the heat promotes muscular relaxation and relieves pain, and that sweating cleanses the body and helps the respiratory system; these are the operator's own claims.

Because of the small enclosed space and the heat, it is not recommended for pregnant travelers or for travelers with poor cardiovascular health. It is otherwise listed as suitable for all physical fitness levels. Public transportation options are available nearby.
