The experience
This guided tour visits Hacienda Mucuyche, located near Abala, whose name is said to mean "turtle dove tree," along with two cenotes on the property that are part of its history and appeal.
After pickup from your accommodation, a local guide takes you through the hacienda, covering its history as a livestock and agriculture estate and its connection to Empress Charlotte, who is said to have once swum in one of its cenotes.
The tour then continues to that cenote, which features a canal surrounded by vegetation, before visiting a second, cave-like cenote with stalactites still in formation.
The hacienda grounds also include a pool and a food area, so there's a chance to relax on-site beyond the guided portion of the visit.
This is a good fit for travelers interested in colonial-era history alongside a swim in cenotes rather than a beach-focused day; it's suitable for all physical fitness levels, and infants are required to sit on an adult's lap.
Transportation from your accommodation and entrance to the hacienda and cenotes are included. Lunch is not included, so plan for that separately.
Pickup is from the main lobby of your accommodation; your guide will be wearing a blue T-shirt with the company logo.
