Horseback riding in Hacienda and time off in beach club

This eight-hour tour from Mérida combines horseback riding on a historic ranch with a visit to the port of Progreso and free time at a beach club. The idea is to explain the history of the henequen-producing haciendas of Yucatán at the end of the 19th century, and then finish the day by the sea.

The day starts with hotel pickup in Mérida, listed at around 07:45, and a transfer to the town of Baca, where the private Santa Beatriz Ranch is located. At about 09:00 the historical tour begins, with your guide explaining how these fiber-producing farms worked. Around 09:30 there is an introduction to natural dressage, and 15 minutes later the horseback ride through the ranch gardens starts. The operator lists one hour of riding in total.

After the ride, at roughly 10:15, you reach the sheep farm and spend about half an hour there, then return to the main house for a coffee break with a Yucatecan snack and non-alcoholic refreshing drinks. The group leaves the ranch around 12:00, and this first part of the itinerary is scheduled for about 180 minutes.

From the ranch you go to the port of Progreso, arriving at about 13:00 for a panoramic tour of the Malecón. Later you arrive at the Silcer beach club, where the afternoon is free: the source mentions about two hours of time off. Departure from the club is approximately 15:30, with arrival back at your Mérida hotel around 16:30. Food and drinks at the club are not included.

The activity is described as suitable for all physical fitness levels, but it is not recommended for pregnant travelers, people with spinal injuries or people with poor cardiovascular health. The operator suggests booking in advance because the ranch visit has limited space: a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 7 people. The price covers tea and coffee, bottled water, all fees and taxes and an air-conditioned vehicle; lunch, tips and personal expenses are not included, so plan to eat at the beach club or in Progreso.
