Mérida by E-Scooter: Paseo de Montejo and La Plancha Park

This tour explores central Mérida on an electric scooter, starting and ending at La Plancha Park and taking in Paseo de Montejo, the city's grand boulevard, along the way.

The route begins at La Plancha, Mérida's newest urban park, where your guide gives a safety briefing and riding orientation before you set off. The park itself was once the city's main railway yard, moving passengers and the "green gold" of henequen across the peninsula during the industry's boom years; after decades of disuse it was rebuilt into the green space you start from today.

From there you ride to El Remate de Paseo de Montejo, where statues of the city's founders mark the start of the avenue, and your guide explains the origins of Mérida and its colonial past. You then continue along Paseo de Montejo itself, an avenue modeled on grand European boulevards and lined with historic mansions, monuments, and landmarks from the henequen era, stopping at points along the way for photos and historical background from your guide.

The ride continues to the Monumento a la Patria, a large stone sculpture depicting Mexican history and one of the city's best-known symbols, before heading back to La Plancha Park, where the tour ends.

It's aimed at travelers who want an active, guided way to cover Mérida's most iconic avenue and its history without walking the whole distance; riders need to know how to ride a bicycle, since the tour is not recommended for pregnant travelers, those with spinal injuries, or anyone who doesn't meet the scooter's weight guidelines.
