Merida : Uxmal, Chocolate Museum and Cenote with lunch and pick up

This day tour from Mérida combines three stops in the Yucatán countryside: the Mayan city of Uxmal, the Choco-Story chocolate museum and the small Peba cenote. Pick-up and lunch are part of the package, so the day is organized as a single circuit that starts and ends in the city.

The morning begins with a pick-up and a short drive to Uxmal, about 60 minutes according to the itinerary. At the ruins you spend around two hours: a guided visit where you learn about the history and the importance of this ancient Mayan city, followed by free time at the end so you can walk at your own pace and take photos.

Next comes Choco-Story, a museum about the Mayan history and traditions of cocoa. It explains the ancient methods of preparing this sacred fruit, and beyond the exhibition halls you visit botanical gardens where cocoa trees grow and a shelter for rescued fauna with species native to the region. After the museum you head to the Peba cenote, a small, shallow cenote with clear water that the operator describes as ideal for cooling off after a busy day. The stop lasts about 70 minutes. Before driving back to Mérida there is a 40-minute lunch with a typical dish, and the return trip takes about an hour.

The tour suits most visitors, since it is listed as suitable for all physical fitness levels. It is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers or people with poor cardiovascular health, so check those points before booking. The guide speaks English and Spanish, and the vehicle has air conditioning.

Some costs are paid separately. The entrance to Uxmal is 586 MXN for foreign visitors and 269 MXN for Mexican nationals, the Choco-Story museum is 280 MXN and the cenote is 100 MXN.
