Private Tour to Campeche city from Merida by Yucatan Concierge

This private day tour from Mérida heads to the walled city of Campeche, with a stop along the way in Becal. It is run by Yucatan Concierge and includes hotel pickup and drop-off, so you travel in a private vehicle with a professional driver, chosen according to the number of passengers, and with an expert guide.

The first stop is Becal, a small, typical Mexican town famous for its traditional hats made of jipi. There you learn the technique and the process of making a jipi hat from local artisans. The itinerary allots about 60 minutes to this stop.

You then continue to the fortified city of Campeche. The guide takes you through its downtown, with its colorful facades, the Catholic cathedral, the boulevard and the fort of San Miguel. The source lists about 180 minutes for this part of the day.

There is a break for lunch, when you can try the dishes of the local cuisine, and afterwards free time for personal shopping and walking the streets of the historic downtown. Lunch is not included in the price, so budget for it separately.
