Recreational Fishing Tour by Boat

This fishing tour departs from La Villa del Pescador on the Yucatán coast near Progreso, offering a traditional fishing outing by boat that blends local technique with modern comfort, with a flexible trip of up to six hours.

After meeting your captain, you head out on a "lancha rivereña," a boat specifically outfitted for stability and comfort while fishing, to a spot the crew has chosen for the day. Once there you can fish using the cordel, a traditional hand-line method rooted in Mayan fishing practice, as well as conventional rods with fresh bait, all included with the tour.

One of the highlights comes at the end, when the captain prepares fresh ceviche using the fish you caught that day, right on the water.

It's suited to both experienced anglers and first-timers, since the crew handles the technique and the equipment either way.

Round-trip transportation is included from the Progreso cruise terminal, or from your hotel or Airbnb in Mérida or Progreso, along with bottled water, snacks, and rods, bait, and life vests.
