Santa Barbara Cenotes Adventure

This tour takes you from your hotel into the jungle near Homún to the Santa Bárbara Cenotes Ecopark, where you spend the day visiting four different natural freshwater cenotes, sinkholes the ancient Maya considered gateways to the underworld.

Inside the ecopark, you move between the cenotes on foot or aboard a traditional horse-drawn cart known locally as a truck, a slower, more rustic way of covering the ground between one cenote and the next.

Each of the four cenotes has its own character. Some are open and ringed by lush jungle vegetation, letting in full daylight over crystal-clear turquoise water, while others are semi-closed caverns with dramatic rock formations and shifting light. The visit also takes in Cenote Secreto, one of the group's more hidden pools.

You get free time at each stop to swim, explore the underground formations, and take photographs at your own pace. Life jackets are provided for the swimming portions, so you can float and explore the water safely even if you are not a strong swimmer.

The day is built for travelers who want to combine adventure, nature and an authentic slice of Yucatán landscape without needing separate excursions to see it.

A certified bilingual guide stays with the group throughout, and the tour includes round-trip pickup and drop-off at your hotel, use of the park's restrooms and changing rooms, and two bottles of water. Lunch, gratuities, souvenirs, personal expenses and beer are not included. Infants must sit on an adult's lap, and the outing is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries.
